Within the framework of USAID BALADI Program, the René Moawad Foundation (RMF) signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with 22 municipalities
selected for BALADI support under Round 2 during 2 days (4 sessions) at RMF Ashrafieh and Mejdlaya offices, respectively. The MOUs outlined the commitment for partnership in implementing the new projects. The signature was witnessed by the USAID Agreement Officer Mr. Aaron Ruble, Lebanon’s Economic Growth Office Director at USAID Lebanon, Ms. Cybill Sigler, and a team from the USAID Lebanon’s office. RMF General director Mr. Nabil Moawad signed MOUs with the Mayors of Fatri, Yahchouch, Tannourine, Douma, Hadath El Jebbeh, Beshmezzine, Bsharre, Bshetfine, Kaitouli, Maaser El Shouf, Batloun, Jezzine, Imar, Kferyashit, Toula, Korsayta, Bhanine, Tal Aabbas, Hrar, Al Qaytea Union of municipalities, Menjez, Bebnin El Abde and Daher El laysineh.
During these sessions, a welcoming note from RMF General Director Mr. Nabil Moawad, a briefing on RMF programmatic areas and a presentation of the new projects to be implemented by RMF BALADI were shared with the participants. The sessions also allowed the mayors to interact with the USAID team and discuss more about their new projects.
The objective of the MoU signatures is to express the willingness of both the implementing partner (RMF) and the municipalities to engage in an effort to promote and complete the selected projects under BALADI program in its 2nd round. The MOU signature is considered a cornerstone to move forward with the implementation of the activities as per approved budgets in each of the villages. This achievement followed a series of meetings undertaken by RMF team and partner municipalities and stakeholders to agree on the details of each project. The MOU signature also followed the formation of 22 Community Project Committees (CPCs) in targeted villages whose members will be supporting municipalities in implementing the selected projects.
