Project “Improve and rehabilitate the Irrigation water conveyance network”

Bazbina (Akkar – Akkar)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Bazbina Municipality to construct and rehabilitate the water conveyance network over a length of 2,400 meters. This project enhanced the agriculture productivity of 158 farmers and improved the socio-economic condition of the families in Bazbina. Prior to this project, Bazbina residents and farmers faced issues related to flooding and irrigation.

The project was completed in August 2015 and the overall total number of beneficiaries until the end of 2021 is 157 farmers from the canals and 22 individuals from trainings.

Objectives

The main objective of the project is to improve the socio-economic condition of farmers in the village, which highly depends on agriculture.

The agricultural Cooperative of Bazbina and International Orthodox Christian Charities were partners in this project.

Project “Building and rehabilitating irrigation canals in Maasser el Shouf”

Maasser El Shouf (Mount Lebanon – Shouf)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Maasser El Shouf Municipality to rehabilitate the irrigation water conveyance network and build new sections in it. As a result of BALADI intervention, the water network became operational in October 2019 and successfully serves 196 farmers from the village. The intervention also helped the Women Association of Maasser el Shouf increase their agro-food production as a result of the enhanced productivity of the farmers. Prior to this project, Maasser El Shouf irrigation network, which was in bad condition, witnessed significant water losses and seepage.

Project “Improvement and rehabilitation of the irrigation water conveyance network in Bhanine”

Bhanine (North Lebanon – Minieh-Dannieh)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Bhanine Municipality to construct and rehabilitate a 1.9-kilometer irrigation network for the village. Prior to this project, Bhanine village suffered from irrigation water losses because of the earthen canals and the old leaking conveyance network, which leads farmers to require more water and have less productivity.

The project was completed in October 2017 and 163 MSMEs are benefiting from it, including 10 woman-owned/operated MSME.

Project “Improvement and rehabilitation of the irrigation water conveyance network in Korsayta”

Korsayta (North Lebanon – Minieh-Dannieh)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Korsayta Municipality to improve and rehabilitate the irrigation water conveyance network over 3 linear kilometers of water canals divided into 9 sections, covering 700 hectares of agricultural lands in the rural village Korsayta. Prior to USAID assistance, farmers suffered from water deficiency due to the dependency on an old earthen irrigation network which introduced water losses exceeding 75%. The project, which was completed in October 2019, successfully benefits 165 MSMEs, representing 398 farmers of which 128 are female.

The main objective of the project is to improve the socio-economic condition of farmers in the village, which highly depends on agriculture.
