Project “Substitute conventional street light lamps with energy efficient LED lights in Tekrite”

Tekrite (Akkar – Akkar)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Tekrite Municipality to substitute 800 conventional street light lamps with energy efficient LED lights. The project helped reduce the high street lighting electrical bill and lamps’ maintenance bill, since LED lamps consume less electricity and require less replacement than traditional lamps. The overall number of till the end of 2021 is 6,680.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to provide lighting for the village.

Project “Install a 350 KVA generator”

Bzeil (Akkar – Akkar)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Bzeil Municipality to install a 350 KVA generator in the village. The project was completed in August 2019.

The generator provides back-up electricity to the village during the electricity blackout at an affordable tariff by reducing the cost of the cabling works involved to get electricity from other sources which are located outside Bzeil. The total number of beneficiaries till date is 3,814.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to help Bzeil municipality improve the livelihood of their residents by providing them with stable electricity supply during blackouts.

Project “Equip the village public school compound and health clinic with photovoltaic panels for electricity generation and equip the village with LED street lights”

Al Amayer (Akkar – Akkar)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Al Amayer Municipality to equip the village public school compound and health clinic with photovoltaic panels for electricity generation. The project, completed in February 2020, provides the public school and the health clinic with solar energy in order to reduce the cost of electricity and the dependence on fossil fuels. Besides, RMF BALADI equipped Al Amayer village with 290 LED lamps for street lighting.

LED lamps are energy efficient and require less maintenance than traditional lamps, helping the municipality save 60% of the cost of street lighting.
The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 68,353.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to provide solar energy to Al Amayer public school and health clinic to help them reduce their electrical bill, to have the village’s street lit at night, and to help Al Amayer Municipality reduce its street lighting bill.

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Al Debbabiyeh Municipality to equip Al Debbabiyeh village main streets with 253 LED street lights. The project, completed in July 2019, aims to improve the livelihood of Al Debbabiyeh residents by providing energy efficient street lamps. LED lamps are energy efficient and require less maintenance than traditional lamps, helping the municipality save 60% of the cost of street lighting.

The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 1,471.

Project “Equip a 150 kWp solar energy system for pumping water from the village well.”

Ras Baalbeck (Baalback, Baalbeck-Hermel)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Ras Baalback Municipality to equip a 150 kWp solar pumping system for the village water well. Prior to this assistance, the municipality used to power the water pump with a diesel generator, which was very costly and did not have the capacity to meet water needs in the village. RMF BALADI assistance, completed in October 2019, provides the village with domestic water at a very low cost. The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 7,510.

The main objectives of the project are to reduce electricity bill from pumping water at community water wells.

Project “Install electrical transformers to enhance national electrify power.”

Arsal (Baalback, Baalbeck-Hermel)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Arsal Municipality to install electrical transformers to provide national electricity to areas of the village which were not yet covered by the national operator because of the lack of security in Arsal for many years. The first intervention was completed in September 2018, includes five new 250 KVA electrical transmission stations and the second interventions was completed in August 2019 includes another five new 250 KVA electrical transmission. The total number of beneficiaries of this project is 33,680.

The main objectives of the project are to improve the livelihood of Arsal residents by enhancing the electrical coverage.

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Aley Municipality to provide medical and other eligible equipment in the newly rehabilitated emergency room unit at Al Iman community hospital.

The project, completed in August 2019, responds to the needs of Aley community and 10 surrounding villages. The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 7,038.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to equip the emergency unit in al Iman Hospital with advanced medical appliances to meet the needs of the local community and the Syrian refugees in the area.

RMF BALADI worked with Mehmarsh Municipality to install two 150 KVA generators in the village. The project was completed in August 2019. The generators provide back-up electricity to the village during the electricity blackout at an affordable tariff.

Prior to RMF BALADI assistance, no diesel generator existed in the village, and residents relied on their own means to have back-up electricity, which was no cost-efficient. The total number of beneficiaries till date is 808.

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Beit Chlala Municipality to install a 300 KVA generator in the village. The project was completed in August 2019. The generator provides back-up electricity to the village during the electricity blackout at an affordable tariff.

Prior to RMF BALADI assistance, no diesel generator existed in the village, and residents relied on their own means to have back-up electricity, which was no cost-efficient. The total number of beneficiaries till date is 342.

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Shwayya Municipality to equip Shwayya village’s main streets with 185 LED street lights, 29 new street lighting poles, and related cablin works. The project, completed in October 2020, aims to improve the livelihood of Shwayya residents by providing energy efficient street lamps. Prior to RMF BALADI intervention, part of the village’s streets was lit by traditional street lamps, which have a high electrical consumption and require more frequent maintenance, while other parts suffered from the total absence of lighting, which constitutes a lack of safety for the residents and limits their moves especially during night time. LED lamps are energy efficient and require less maintenance than traditional lamps, helping the municipality save 60% of the cost of street lighting. The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 1,608.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to improve the livelihood of village residents by helping Shwayya Municipality reduce its street lighting bill.

Project “Substitute conventional street light lamps with energy efficient LED lights and procure a 400 KVA generator”

Fardis (Hasbaya – Nabatiyeh)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Fardis Municipality to substitute conventional street light lamps in the village with 275 energy efficient LED lamps and their panel boards, and procure a 400 KVA diesel generator. LED lamps, which are installed and operational in Fardis since October 2020, consume less electricity and require less maintenance than traditional lamps, helping the municipality save 60% of the cost of street lighting. The diesel generator replaces the old generator managed by Fardis Municipality and provides back-up electricity to the village at an affordable tariff. The generator is operational since October 2019. The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 774.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to improve the livelihood of residents in Fardis by procuring and installing an efficient back-up generator, enhance road security in Fardis, and generate job opportunities.

Project “Installation of Solar Water Heaters and LED solar street lights”

Matrit (Koura – North Lebanon)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Matrit Municipality to install household Solar Water Heaters (SWH) and install energy efficient LED lamps for street lighting. SWHs provide beneficiaries with hot water for free and allow beneficiaries to reduce their electric bills by 35%, a timely reduction given the high cost of energy. Besides, the installation of LED street lamps helps improve the livelihood of Matrit residents as they are energy efficient and require less maintenance than traditional lamps, helping the municipality save 60% of the cost of street lighting. This intervention is completed and operational since September 2020. The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 408.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to help Matrit residents decrease their energy bill for heating domestic water, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and enhance road security in Matrit.

Project “Install a 315 KVA generator”

Qousaya (Zahle – Bekaa)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Qousaya Municipality to install a 315 KVA diesel generator to be managed by the municipality. The project was completed in June 2019.

The generator provides back-up electricity to the village during blackout at an affordable tariff; it replaces the old generator that Qousaya Municipality managed in the past, which was not energy efficient and which didn’t cover the demand for back-up electricity in the village. The total number of beneficiaries till date is 3,811.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to help Qousaya municipality improve the livelihood of their residents by providing them with stable electricity supply during blackouts.

Project “Equip an agro food processing and packaging facility”

Qaa El Rim Zahle – Bekaa)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Qaa El Rim Municipality to rehabilitate and equip an agro food processing and packaging facility. This intervention aims at enhancing the socio-economic conditions of women and farmers in the village. It provided training and created employment opportunities to ten women to work on the production of local and traditional food products. Besides, it helps generate revenues to local farmers since their crops are used in the facility. MSMEs are also contracted for distribution, sales, and other services. Completed in August 2020, the facility immediately became functional despite the COVID 19 pandemic, lockdowns and the financial crisis, whereby the women of Qaa El Rim weathered these challenges by increased their sales to humanitarian NGOs, by marketing on social media (Instagram: kaaelrim_cooperative), and by a door-to-door delivery and cash-on-delivery to customers throughout Lebanon. The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 169.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to enhance socio economic conditions in Qaa El Rim, generate job opportunities for women, and provide locally produced agro foods in respect to national standards.

Kfardlakous (Zghartha – North Lebanon)

Description

RMF BALADI worked with Kfardlakous Municipality to install 75 Solar Water Heaters and 83 LED solar street lights. SWHs provide beneficiaries with hot water for free and allow beneficiaries to reduce their electric bills by 35%, a timely reduction given the high cost of energy. They are operational since August 2020.

Besides that, the street light lamps project aims, to improve the livelihood of Kfardlakous residents as they were suffering from the total absence of street lighting in the village, LED lamps are energy efficient and require less maintenance than traditional lamps, helping the municipality save 60% of the cost of street lighting. They are installed and operational since March 2020. The total number of beneficiaries of this project till date is 4,989.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are to improve the socio-economic of citizens by decreasing households’ energy consumption, generate job opportunities for underprivileged community members. It also improve road security within the village and increase awareness of local population on sustainable development policies.
