René Moawad Foundation receives 69 municipal applications for BALADI’s 2nd round of development projects.

For the second round of municipal development projects funding, RMF/BALADI team conducted in January 2015, 12 orientation sessions for municipalities and communities throughout 12 districts across Lebanon (Akkar, Tripoli, Minieh Danniyeh, Zgharta, Koura, Bcharreh, Batroun, Kesrwen, Jbeil, Saida, Jezzine and Chouf), where 230 persons from 165 municipalities and 37 local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) attended the sessions.

apps3The orientation sessions were followed in February by 5 technical sessions on Gender Integration, Needs Assessment, Public-Private Partnerships and Environmental Compliance, delivered by a team of specialists to help municipalities prepare better for their development projects applications.

110 persons representing 71 municipalities and unions of municipalities as well as 21 NGOs participated in the technical sessions despite the harsh weather conditions.

As a result, RMF BALADI program received by the closing date of March 5, 2015, 69 municipal applications from 11 districts (Akkar, Minieh Danniyeh, Zgharta, Koura, Bcharreh, Batroun, Kesrwen, Jbeil, Saida, Jezzine and Chouf), representing 137 municipalities and 10 villages interested in BALADI program.

       

Highlights

Within the framework of "BALADI" program funded by the US Agency for International Development in Lebanon (USAID), "Statistics Lebanon" outsourced by Rene Moawad Foundation and Caritas Lebanon is conducting a survey to measure the improvement of public services in the selected municipalities for the first round of "BALADI" program through the perception of various number of community representatives from the targeted local communities.
